What does propane gas smell like?
Propane has a strong, unpleasant odor like rotten eggs, a skunk’s spray, or a dead animal. This smell is deliberately added to help alert customers to propane leaks.
Be sure you know were where your main gas shut off is located.
What to do if you suspect a propane gas leak or smell a strong gas odor
Put out any open flame.
Do not use or turn on any electrical device in the area.
Leave the area ASAP!
Safely turn the main gas shut off to the off position (clockwise)
Report the leak to ProGas, otherwise to your local fire department.
Do not return to the affected area.
Get the system checked by a qualified service technician at ProGas.
